Everyone interested may
contact me to provide additional determinations. I would particularly
appreciate those who have access to US museums to provide IDs from holotypes
available in those museums. Also, please let me know of errors or omissions,
nobody is perfect ! This database has at this point 6332 photos
of approximately 3578 species spread among 41 moths Families. The website is
regularly updated, you can find the latest additions under "Nouveau/New/Nuevo".
|
|
...and specialists
: the following experts, specialists on systematics and
taxonomy, have kindly agreed to share their experience and knowledge, without
this the site would not exist. I am grateful to all of them for their help and
contributions.
Warning
all the determinations of the species have been made from photos, this means
that no deep examination of the actual insect has been made and without a study
of their genitalia. This type of determination is not without danger since it
relies only on the photograph. Therefore these determinations must be considered
with prudence, particularly when not well- known families are concerned.
Some experts wish to do a DNA test that would allow in most cases to
differentiate between species that are very near phenotypically.
